How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Supervising Social Worker | Five Rivers Child Care | Doncaster

    Pay Rate: £33,755 - £39,547 + £4,500 Car Allowance

    Location: Hybrid Working – Doncaster Office with support provided to foster carers across Lincolnshire (areas such as Skegness)

    Contract: Permanent

    Working Pattern: Full-Time

    Sheldon Phillips are working with Five Rivers Child Care to recruit an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their North Fostering Service. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established independent fostering agency that operates using a trauma-informed practice model, providing high-quality support to foster carers and children across Lincolnshire.

    The service offers a supportive and collaborative working environment, manageable caseloads, strong clinical support, and a child-centred ethos. The role combines home-based working, office attendance in Doncaster, and regular visits to foster carers throughout the Lincolnshire area.

    Role Overview

    As a Supervising Social Worker, you will provide ongoing support, supervision, and guidance to foster carers, ensuring children and young people receive safe, stable, and nurturing care. Working within a trauma-informed framework, you will build positive relationships with foster families, contribute to recruitment activity, and complete fostering assessments to support the continued growth of the service.

    You will work closely alongside managers, therapeutic practitioners, psychologists, and business support colleagues to ensure foster carers receive comprehensive support and intervention when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide regular supervision, support, and guidance to allocated foster carers in line with fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and agency procedures.

    Undertake foster carer supervision visits, annual reviews, unannounced visits, and support sessions to promote high-quality fostering practice.

    Monitor placements and provide intervention where required to maintain placement stability and positive outcomes for children and young people.

    Develop effective working relationships with foster carers, children, young people, local authorities, and partner agencies.

    Complete comprehensive Form F Assessments for prospective foster carers.

    Participate in recruitment activities, fostering information events, and campaigns to attract and assess new foster carers.

    Attend and contribute to foster carer reviews, placement planning meetings, disruption meetings, and multi-agency meetings.

    Provide advice and support regarding safeguarding concerns, behavioural challenges, trauma-informed approaches, and placement issues.

    Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, reports, assessments, and statutory documentation.

    Support carers in developing their skills, knowledge, and understanding through training and reflective supervision.

    Work collaboratively with therapeutic practitioners and clinical colleagues to ensure children and foster carers receive appropriate support.

    Participate in the agency on-call rota as required.

    Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through child-centred and trauma-informed practice.

    Requirements

    Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).

    Registration with Social Work England.

    Experience working within fostering services, children's social care, or related statutory services.

    Knowledge of fostering legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures.

    Experience supporting foster carers, undertaking assessments, and working within multi-agency environments.

    Strong assessment, report-writing, and communication skills.

    Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

    Right to work in the UK.
