How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    IT Technician

    Location: Hackney
    Salary: £100 - £130 per day
    Start Date: ASAP
    Contract: Long Term
    Working Hours: 7:30am to 4:30pm

    GSL Education London Branch is seeking an experienced IT Technician to join a thriving coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated IT Technician who is passionate about technology and enjoys supporting staff and students in a busy educational environment.

    As an IT Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the school's IT systems and infrastructure. The successful IT Technician will provide technical support across the school, helping to maintain a reliable and efficient learning environment.     Responsibilities

    Provide first and second-line technical support to staff and students.
    Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network systems.
    Support classroom technology, including interactive displays, projectors, and audiovisual equipment.
    Maintain user accounts, passwords, and permissions.
    Assist with the setup and maintenance of laptops, desktops, printers, and other devices.
    Monitor and maintain the school's IT infrastructure and network performance.
    Support the implementation of software updates, security patches, and system upgrades.
    Record and manage support requests through the school's helpdesk system.
    Ensure IT equipment is maintained and inventory records are kept up to date.

    Requirements

    Previous experience working as an IT Technician or in a similar IT support role.
    Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and networking principles.
    Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
    Experience working within a school or educational setting is desirable.
    A commitment to providing excellent customer service and technical support.
