How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teacher (KS3 & KS4) - Full-Time
    Location: Burnley, Lancashire
    Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only

    Our client is a specialist independent school supporting young people aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, and cognition and learning challenges.

    The Role

    We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated English Teacher to join a specialist team in Burnley. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is committed to making English accessible, engaging, and meaningful for pupils with a range of additional learning needs.

    The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils develop their literacy, communication, reading, and writing skills while supporting their social, emotional, and personal development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons aligned with the national curriculum and individual learning needs
    Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, adapting content and resources to support pupil progress
    Develop pupils' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through creative and inclusive teaching approaches
    Create and implement personalised learning plans and support EHCP targets
    Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and a love of learning
    Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress, achievement, and attainment
    Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to support pupil outcomes
    Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development through effective classroom practice
    Use positive behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed approaches to maximise engagement and achievement

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

    QTS or QTLS (essential)
    Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level
    Experience working with pupils with SEN, either in mainstream or specialist settings
    Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs
    The ability to differentiate effectively and adapt teaching to meet a range of learning styles and abilities
    Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
    A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
    A commitment to inclusive education and raising attainment for all learners
    An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
