How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Senior / Principal Ecologist

    Location: Wolverhampton

    Salary: £50,000.00 - £60,000.00 + Bonus Scheme + Company Vehicle

    The Company

    I am looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior/Principal Ecologist with strong survey and report-writing skills, along with a genuine passion for ecology and biodiversity.

    This position is perfect for someone who combines solid scientific knowledge with commercial awareness, recognizing that delivering exceptional ecological outcomes and fostering strong client relationships are interconnected.

    As part of a growing consultancy in the ecological and landscape sectors, you will engage in a variety of projects across the UK, primarily supporting planning applications and development initiatives.

    Additionally, this role provides the chance to collaborate closely with the Managing Director and senior management team to contribute to the ongoing growth of the business. The successful candidate will be financially rewarded for their role in the company's development and success.

    The Role

    - Delivering ecological surveys and assessments across the West Midlands

    - Producing accurate, high-quality reports in a timely manner

    - Building and maintaining strong client relationships

    - Collaborating with colleagues across various disciplines

    - Delivering projects to a high standard

    Requirements

    *

    A relevant degree, such as Ecology, Conservation

    *

    A minimum of four years’ relevant professional experience

    *

    Strong knowledge in protected species surveys and Biodiversity Net Gain.

    *

    Ideally a Class 2 Bat Licence and/or Great Crested Newt licence

    *

    A full UK driving licence

    *

    Ability to manage workloads effectively and work to tight deadlines.

    *

    Willingness to travel within West Midlands
