How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Operations Geologist based in Aberdeen. This has been released on a 12 month contract.
     
    This role will consist of working office hours with a 3 on and 3 off duty pattern whereby you will be on call 24 /7 for the 3 weeks. During reservoir sections there will be a 12 hour shift to geosteer the well using LWD tools with a 3rd team member from Subsurface Well Delivery on the opposite shift. There is expectation for candidates to take time off post duty and then return to office hours until the start of the next duty rota. This will be factored into task delivery.
     
    The specific requirements for this role are:

    Execution
    • Follow up wells in operation to ensure geological well objectives are met, and support the execution team.
    • Main point of contact from offshore team (mudlogging, LWD, DD, DSV. Note no Wellsite Geologist offshore) and onshore service company geosteering and FPWD teams for entirety of well,
    • Contribute to avoiding well control incidents,
    • Responsible for decision making within the parameters of the geological program including data acquisition, POOH, geosteering, formation top picking, section TD,
    • Report geological observations on the well,
    • Perform quality control of drilling and geological data related to formation evaluation,
    • Regularly update and distribute trip risk log (Similar to a lithology/wellsite log)
    • Attend morning rig calls
    • Provide reports and updates as required
     
    Post well
    • Cross discipline sharing of observations and results of the well with the SUB and Wells team
    • Prepare FWR and Post well Composite Log
    • WONS submission of the wellbore update notification at the end of a well.
     
    Planning
    • Participate in the well construction process though:
    • Prediction and evaluation of pore pressure, stress and wellbore stability including
    • Implementation and update of the PP/WBS models with relevant experiences from reference wells
    • Contribution to risk assessments with relevant PP/WBS input
    • Prepare pre risk chart in Gravitas
    • Give input to Data Acquisition Program
     
    Skills, experience & attributes:
    Operations Geologist Minimum Competency requirements:
    • University level Earth Science Degree
    • significant geological offshore experience
    • significant operational geology experience
    • Experienced in geosteering wells using deep resistivity LWD tools
    • Experienced in formation pressure point selection and operations
    • Experienced in pore pressure prediction
    • Knowledge of IT tools as Gravitas, RokDoc, Petrel and Predict is preferred, however necessary training will be provided,
    • Heavy oil and ERD experience is advantageous.
