How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Environmental Due Diligence Project Lead - London

An exciting opportunity for an Environmental Due Diligence Project Lead to join a leading international engineering consultancy delivering complex digital infrastructure and mission critical projects across the UK and Europe. This role offers the opportunity to support the early-stage development of major data centre projects, focusing on environmental planning, due diligence, and sustainability-led site selection strategies.

    Location: London, United Kingdom

    Job Description

The Environmental Due Diligence Project Lead will play a key role in supporting the identification, assessment, and development of future data centre sites across the UK and Europe. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, this position will focus on environmental planning, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), feasibility studies, permitting, and stakeholder coordination during the early stages of project development.

The role offers exposure to some of the most significant digital infrastructure projects currently being developed across Europe and provides the opportunity to work closely with international clients, technical specialists, and planning authorities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead environmental due diligence activities for potential data centre developments across the UK and Europe.
    • Assess environmental risks, constraints, and planning considerations during site selection and feasibility stages.
    • Prepare, coordinate, and review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and supporting technical documentation.
    • Manage environmental planning activities, permitting processes, and planning application support.
    • Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, consultants, and technical stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and planning frameworks.
    • Identify and mitigate environmental risks relating to biodiversity, water resources, air quality, sustainability, and noise impacts.
    • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for early-stage development activities.
    • Manage multidisciplinary teams including environmental consultants, planners, engineers, and specialist advisors.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout due diligence and environmental planning phases.
    • Provide strategic environmental and sustainability advice to support informed development decisions.
    • Support ESG objectives and sustainability-focused development strategies across projects.
    • Conduct baseline environmental studies, scoping exercises, and coordination with specialist consultants including ecological, hydrological, and geotechnical teams.

    Requirements

    • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geography, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
    • Professional accreditation such as IEMA, RTPI, or equivalent is highly desirable.
    • Proven experience delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and environmental planning activities for large-scale infrastructure or development projects.
    • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permitting, and planning processes across EMEA.
    • Experience managing early-stage development and feasibility activities, ideally within RIBA Stages 0–1.
    • Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental risk management, and ESG frameworks.
    • Excellent project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, coordination, and stakeholder management.
    • Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate complex environmental issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience working on mission critical, industrial, commercial, energy, or data centre developments would be advantageous.
    • Strong communication and client-facing skills with the ability to operate within international project environments.
    • Fluent English language skills required; additional European languages would be beneficial.
