How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We’re hiring a Principal Clinical Bioinformatician to join a growing Clinical Bioinformatics team based in Slough, UK.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise in omics analysis with the ability to generate meaningful biological insights from complex clinical datasets. You will play a key role in supporting clinical assets through advanced analysis of patient-level molecular data, helping to better understand disease biology, treatment effects, and mechanisms of action.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Leading analysis of large-scale bulk and single-cell RNA-seq datasets from clinical studies
    • Developing bespoke bioinformatics workflows and analytical methods
    • Applying advanced interpretation approaches including pathway analysis, causal reasoning, and machine learning methods
    • Delivering reproducible, well-documented analyses using modern computational best practices
    • Communicating complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Contributing to scientific publications, presentations, and cross-functional collaborations

    We’re looking for candidates with:

    • MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field
    • 7+ years of relevant post-study experience, ideally within biotech or pharma
    • Strong expertise in transcriptomics and multi-omics data analysis
    • Excellent programming skills in R and related bioinformatics tools
    • Experience working in Unix/HPC and cloud computing environments
    • Strong statistical, data visualisation, and scientific communication skills

Additional experience in spatial omics, epigenomics, proteomics, containerisation technologies, or clinical trial datasets would be highly valued.

This is a UK-based role with hybrid working (approximately 2 days onsite per week in Slough). Relocation support can be considered for international candidates.

If you are passionate about translating complex biological data into actionable clinical insights, we’d love to hear from you.
