How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Experienced construction cost management professional

Help shape the future of Scotland’s community infrastructure

At the Scottish Futures Trust, we work at the heart of Scotland’s public infrastructure, bringing together public and private sector partners to deliver projects and programmes that improve lives, strengthen communities, and create long-term social value.

We’re now looking for an experienced and commercially minded construction professional to join our team at a pivotal time. This is an opportunity to help deliver some of Scotland’s most important community and social infrastructure programmes, while also influencing how future public infrastructure is planned, funded, and delivered for generations to come.

From schools and healthcare facilities to housing and civic infrastructure, your work will have a visible and lasting impact across Scotland.

    The Role

This SFT Associate Director role is a high-profile senior position with a primary focus on support to the nationally significant and well-established hub Programme. The role may also offer the opportunity to help shape and implement future innovative delivery approaches for public sector infrastructure.

Working closely with public sector organisations, private sector partners, and senior stakeholders, you’ll act as both a trusted advisor and a constructive challenger — driving strong commercial outcomes, improving programme performance, and helping deliver better value for communities.

    Why this role matters

This is more than a commercial management role. It’s an opportunity to:

    • Influence how Scotland delivers vital public infrastructure
    • Help shape policy and future delivery approaches
    • Improve outcomes for communities across the country
    • Work on complex, high-impact programmes with national significance
    • Collaborate with senior leaders across the public and private sectors

    About You

You may already be operating as a senior Quantity Surveyor, construction cost manager, or commercial professional with significant infrastructure or project experience.

    You’ll bring:

    • Strong commercial and strategic thinking
    • Experience working across complex construction or infrastructure projects or programmes
    • The ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders
    • A collaborative mindset with a focus on achieving long-term value and better outcomes

If you’re motivated by purposeful work, strategic impact, and the opportunity to help shape the future of Scotland’s public infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit a covering letter and CV by Monday 22 June.

First stage interviews will take place in Edinburgh w/c 29 June 2026, with second stage likely in the last week of July.

Scottish Futures Trust operate a flexible working approach with a range of options including part time and compressed hours. You are required to attend the office in Edinburgh a minimum of one day per week. This role will involve some travel.
