How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Company Description GTA Civils & Transport is a multi-disciplinary engineering company providing civil engineering design, transport planning, and flood risk services to clients across the UK and overseas. Operating since 1974, the company has extensive experience delivering projects of varied size and complexity. GTA Civils & Transport works collaboratively with clients and contractors to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions. The team supports major UK contractors across sectors including residential, commercial, retail, education, public assembly, industrial, and agricultural. The company maintains rigorous quality standards, holding SMAS compliance and ISO 9001 certification.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Graduate Transport Planner role based in Burgess Hill. The Graduate Transport Planner will support the preparation of transport assessments, travel plans, and technical reports for a range of development projects. Day-to-day tasks include data collection and analysis, assisting with junction capacity assessments, and contributing to transport modelling work under guidance from senior colleagues. The role involves liaising with internal teams, contributing to project meetings, and supporting the preparation of drawings, figures, and presentation materials. The successful candidate will also help respond to local authority and client queries, ensuring work is delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards while developing professional skills and knowledge.

    Qualifications

    • Strong foundation in Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling, with an interest in applying these skills to real-world development projects.
    • Understanding of Transportation Management and Operations Management principles, ideally with exposure to transport policy, networks, and highway operations.
    • Effective Communication skills, including clear written reporting and confident interpersonal skills for engaging with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
    • Relevant degree (or near completion) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
    • Ability to work accurately with numerical data, including basic proficiency in MS Excel and other analysis tools; familiarity with industry-standard transport software is an advantage.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-based environment.
    • Willingness to learn, openness to feedback, and interest in building a long-term career in transport planning and development infrastructure.
    • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to commute to Burgess Hill for on-site work.
