How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working closely with clients, designers, operational teams and key stakeholders, the Senior Project Manager will oversee projects including deep drainage, large diameter pipelines, pumping stations, shaft construction, storm storage facilities, wastewater treatment upgrades, clean water infrastructure and complex earthworks, while managing multidisciplinary teams, direct labour and subcontractors to achieve successful project outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the successful delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to completion.

    * Manage project performance across programme, commercial, operational and contractual objectives.

    * Oversee project finances including forecasting, cost control, risk management and reporting.

    * Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, framework partners, consultants and key stakeholders.

    * Manage multidisciplinary project teams, direct labour and subcontractors to achieve successful project outcomes.

    * Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance are maintained.

    * Drive programme development, planning and resource management activities.

    * Support tendering, early contractor involvement and pre-construction activities where required.

    * Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all company and client procedures.

    * Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency across project delivery.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience

    * Significant heavy civils experience delivering projects involving deep drainage, shaft sinking, pipelines, utility infrastructure and complex earthworks.

    * Experience within the water sector, including clean water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.

    * Proven ability to successfully manage both direct labour and subcontractor supply chains.

    * Strong client-facing experience with a track record of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

    * Excellent planning, programming and project controls capability.

    * Strong commercial awareness with a sound understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.

    * Demonstrable experience delivering projects safely, efficiently and profitably with minimal supervision.

    Qualifications & Certifications

    * Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification – essential.

    * SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – essential.

    * CSCS Black Card – essential.

    * Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) – essential.

    * Full UK Driving Licence – essential.

    Desirable

    * Chartered status or working towards chartership (CEng, IEng, MICE or equivalent).

    * Experience operating within major water utility frameworks.

    * Primavera P6 or equivalent project planning software experience.

    * Knowledge of environmental permitting and commissioning processes associated with water infrastructure projects.
