How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal Medical Writer

    We are currently partnered with a highly regarded independent healthcare communications agency looking to appoint a Principal Medical Writer as part of its continued growth.

    The Opportunity

    As Principal Medical Writer, you will play a senior strategic role across a diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical and biotech accounts, overseeing the development of high-quality scientific content while partnering closely with clients and cross-functional internal teams.

    This position offers broad exposure across multiple projects and therapy areas, with the opportunity to influence scientific strategy, mentor junior writers and contribute to the ongoing growth and direction of the medical writing function.


    Key responsibilities include:

    • Leading development of high-quality scientific and medical communications materials across a variety of deliverables
    • Providing strategic scientific counsel to both clients and internal stakeholders
    • Overseeing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, consistency and scientific accuracy
    • Building trusted client relationships and contributing to account growth
    • Mentoring and supporting junior writers and wider project teams
    • Collaborating closely with client services, creative and strategy teams on integrated programmes
    • Supporting business development activities including pitches and scientific input


    The ideal candidate will bring:

    • Previous experience working within a medical communications agency environment
    • Strong scientific writing expertise across a range of deliverables and therapy areas
    • Experience operating at Senior Medical Writer or Principal Medical Writer level
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex projects
    • Strong client communication and stakeholder management skills
    • A collaborative and proactive mindset with interest in mentoring and leadership
    • Life sciences degree
