How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Reporter, The Drawdown

    Full-time

    Moorgate, London (Hybrid)

The Drawdown is looking for a reporter to join its editorial team and cover the operational heartbeat of the private equity industry.

Published by Real Deals Media, The Drawdown sits at the intersection of private equity and the operational functions that keep funds running: fundraising, compliance, technology, human capital, ESG, and outsourcing. It serves a readership of senior operational professionals across the asset class, combining daily news with long-form analysis, print editions, events, and an active podcast and webinar programme.

Reporters here work with genuine autonomy. You will develop your own sources and story ideas, contribute to the print magazine, and take an active role in the events programme as a moderator and host. The entrepreneurial culture at Real Deals Media means you can shape your own beat and build your profile within a market that continues to grow in complexity and visibility.

    Key responsibilities

    • Write daily news and analysis, with a focus on original and proprietary reporting across the PE operational landscape.

    • Produce long-form features, editorial leaders, and profiles of senior figures within private equity firms.

    • Host podcasts, webinars, and roundtables, and moderate panels at industry conferences, including international events.

    • Support the print magazine and contribute to newsletters and social media activity.

    • Collaborate with sister publication Real Deals, covering PE dealflow and strategy.

    Key requirements

    • Two to three years' experience in business or finance journalism.

    • A demonstrable ability to write clearly on complex topics for a professional readership.

    • Strong interviewing and relationship-building skills, with an ability to source off-diary stories.

    • Comfort working to tight deadlines across both office and hybrid settings.

Prior experience with podcasts, video, or webinars is a plus, as is commercial awareness and an existing network across the private equity ecosystem.

Everyone who applies will receive a response within one week.
