How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Turley believe that good design is vital in the creation of successful, sustainable and enduring places that bring delight and that people will value now and in the future.

Our Design team at Turley comprises 16 Urban Designers working across the UK and Ireland. Our multi-faceted team comprises architects, landscape architects and urban designers with a planning qualification, giving us a unique and rich blend of skills and backgrounds. We work with clients on interesting and compelling projects that deliver better places.

    About the role

We seek a highly competent and passionate Assistant Urban Designer who is confident, dedicated to their own development and at the forefront of professional best practice. You will gain experience of contributing to masterplanning projects from inception to completion with particular emphasis on providing great client service and the delivery of high-quality outputs.

A degree in Architecture and/or a post-graduate qualification in Urban Design or relevant discipline is desired. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft packages will be required with 3D computer modelling, rendering, and hand drawing skills desirable.

"I joined Turley as a graduate, and from day one I’ve been welcomed, supported, and encouraged to push boundaries. I’ve worked on projects of all scales and stages, constantly learning and developing new skills. The balance of collaboration, autonomy, and guidance has been invaluable, and the reason I’ve learned so much about the role, the design process, and the planning system - all with the joint goal of creating meaningful places."

    Manuela Zucchi, Assistant Urban Designer
