How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    LEGAL & BUSINESS AFFAIRS

    FIRST LAWYER FOR THEATRICAL/ENTERTAINMENT CLIENT

    CENTRAL LONDON

A leading independent rights management business operating within the theatrical and entertainment sector is seeking an experienced and commercially astute lawyer to lead its Legal & Business Affairs function.

This is a senior in-house appointment offering broad strategic responsibility across intellectual property management, commercial contracting, rights enforcement and wider corporate legal matters. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of a highly respected rights-focused organisation.

The role is ideally suited to an experienced commercial, IP or entertainment lawyer who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and is comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.

Applicants are likely to be qualified solicitors in England & Wales (or equivalent) with significant experience in intellectual property, licensing and commercial contracts, ideally gained within theatre, entertainment, media or another IP-led sector.

    Candidates should demonstrate:

    • Strong expertise in copyright law and intellectual property protection, particularly within the UK and US
    • Experience negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements
    • Experience handling contentious contractual matters and rights enforcement issues
    • Strong commercial judgement and risk assessment capability
    • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
    • The ability to operate independently and manage a broad workload autonomously
    • A proactive, resilient and commercially focused mindset

Experience supporting acquisition transactions, rights licensing across multiple territories and media, and managing external litigation counsel would be advantageous.

The working culture is dynamic and collaborative and you will enjoy being part of an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
