How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We're looking for an Engineer to join our team based in Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford.

Location: Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford – remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 37.5 per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Engineer – Drainage and Water, you'll be working within the Design team, supporting them in delivering compliant and sustainable drainage and water solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, sustainable drainage and water solutions across a range of projects. You'll support the design lead on assigned work packages, contributing to design coordination and helping to ensure programme, budget, and risk commitments are met. The role includes providing technical input to the team, sharing knowledge, and supporting early-career engineers where required, whilst maintaining consistent standards and best practice in delivery.

Your day to day will include:

Delivering assigned tasks within work packages to a high standard, taking ownership of technical outputs

Applying relevant design standards, regulations, and quality processes consistently

Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners

Contributing to knowledge sharing and technical development within the team, and providing guidance to early-career engineers

    What are we looking for?

This role of Engineer – Drainage and Water is great for you if:

You have demonstrable technical competence in Drainage & Water engineering, with experience delivering tasks across one or more sectors

You can work autonomously at a task level, taking ownership of technical outputs whilst supporting wider package delivery

You have experience applying relevant design standards, regulations, and quality processes consistently

You're aware of programme, budget, and risk considerations for assigned tasks, escalating issues appropriately

You hold a full driving licence and are willing to travel as required
