How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Gardener
    Location: Newport
    Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour PAYE (including holiday pay) | £17.10 per hour LTD Umbrella
    Hours: 37 hours per week
    Contract: Temporary

    Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Gardener to join the Parks Horticultural Team within Newport's Streetscene service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within two prestigious and historic parks, Belle Vue Park and Beechwood Park, both Grade II listed landscapes recognised by CADW and holders of Green Flag and National Heritage status.
    This role is ideal for candidates with a broad horticultural background, excellent plant knowledge, and a passion for maintaining high-quality public green spaces.

    Key Responsibilities
    Carry out a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties.
    Maintain flower beds, borders, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
    Ensure parks are maintained to a high standard in line with heritage and Green Flag requirements.
    Operate horticultural equipment and tools safely and effectively.
    Support the wider Parks Horticultural Team in delivering quality services to the public.
    Follow all health and safety procedures and council policies.Working Hours
    Summer: 7:30am – 3:30pm
    Winter: 9:30am – 5:30pmCandidate Requirements
    Previous gardening, horticultural, or grounds maintenance experience.
    Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge.
    Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
    Willingness to adapt to change and contribute to continuous improvement.
