How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Shift Engineer

    Circa £50,000

    Continental Shift Pattern (7am – 7pm, 7pm – 7am)

    Wrexham

    We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Wrexham. Operating within a high-volume, fast-paced environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving and working as part of a collaborative shift team.

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities - Shift Engineer

    Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment
    Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
    Support production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency
    Complete preventative maintenance tasks in line with site schedules
    Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards
    Accurately record maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
    Assist with equipment improvements, breakdown root cause analysis, and minor project work
    Work effectively on a continental shift pattern, handing over clearly between shifts
    Qualifications & Experience - Shift Engineer

    Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
    Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, or similar highly regulated sector preferred)
    Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems
    A proactive, team-focused approach with good communication skills
    Ability to work calmly under pressure and make sound engineering decisions
