Job Title: Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Working Location: Manchester (Hybrid - 2 days office / site visits as required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technically challenging geotechnical projects from feasibility through delivery
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
- Drive a strong mix of technical, commercial, and project responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical assessments and engineering studies
- Oversee project delivery from initial investigation through to design support
- Review ground investigation data and provide technical recommendations
- Support foundation, earthworks, retaining structure, and slope stability assessments
- Manage external ground investigation contractors and specialist consultants
- Produce and review technical reports and design documentation
- Support project planning, commercial reporting, and client engagement
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, and multidisciplinary project teams
Requirements:
- Strong geotechnical engineering experience within infrastructure, highways, rail, energy, or civil engineering sectors
- Experience leading projects and managing technical delivery
- Good understanding of ground investigations, geotechnical design, and risk management
- Experience with foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, and slope engineering
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership preferred
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
