How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title:  Humanities teacher
    Location:  The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
    Hours:      37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | Monday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:15am - 3:45pm
    Salary:      £45,000 per annum (not pro rata)
    Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
    Start:        September 2026

    We are seeking an inspiring Humanities Teacher to join our dedicated, multi‑professional team. Our school provides a highly personalised education for students who benefit from smaller class sizes, tailored learning and a supportive environment.     Key Responsibilities:

    You will play a key role in shaping meaningful learning experiences for our students by:

    Planning and delivering engaging lessons for individuals and small groups, following our curriculum framework and teaching up to GCSE level in a core subject.

    Supporting nurture‑based programmes that help students build confidence, emotional literacy and self‑belief.

    Monitoring, recording and reporting on student progress, ensuring every learner is supported to achieve their potential.

    Creating a stimulating, well‑organised classroom environment that celebrates learning and encourages curiosity.

    Designing and reviewing Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and personalised learning pathways.

    Leading on subject development across key stages as agreed with the Headteacher.

    Working collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, care staff and colleagues across departments to ensure a consistent, holistic approach.

    Managing challenging behaviour with empathy and structure, helping students move from external regulation to self‑control.

    Ensuring student safety and wellbeing at all times, both on and off site, in line with safeguarding and risk assessment procedures.

    Contributing to whole‑school development, innovation and continuous improvement.

    Who We’re Looking For

    QTS/PGCE required 

    Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour to re-engage the pupils back into their learning.

    Passionate about Humanities and committed to high‑quality teaching.

    Skilled at building positive, trusting relationships with young people.

    Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to individual needs.

    Confident working with challenging behaviour in a supportive, structured way.

    A strong communicator who thrives in a multi‑professional team.

    Organised, reflective and committed to ongoing professional development.
