How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fire & Security Engineer
    Location: Liverpool
    Salary: £32,000 - £42,000 (DOE) + Overtime + Travel + Benefits
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    Overview
    A leading specialist Fire & Security integrator is looking to recruit a skilled Fire & Security Engineer to join their growing team in the Liverpool area. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in either fire alarm systems or security systems who is looking to broaden their expertise, full cross-training will be provided to develop competency across both disciplines.

    Role Responsibilities

    Installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire alarm and/or security systems
    Working on systems including (but not limited to): fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control
    Fault finding and diagnostics across a range of manufacturers
    Completing small works and system upgrades
    Ensuring all works comply with relevant British Standards (e.g. BS5839, NSI standards)
    Providing technical support and advice to clients on-site
    Completing accurate job reports and documentation
    Participating in the on-call rota (typically 1 in 6)

    Candidate Requirements

    Experience in either fire alarm systems or electronic security systems (CCTV, intruder, access control)
    Strong fault-finding and servicing ability within your core discipline
    Willingness to train and develop into the complementary discipline
    Full UK driving licence
    Good communication skills and professional attitude when dealing with clients
    Knowledge of relevant industry standards is desirable but not essential

    Package & Benefits

    Basic Salary: £32,000 - £42,000 depending on experience
    Overtime: Paid at 1.5x weekdays / 2x Sundays & bank holidays
    Travel Time: Paid after 30 minutes each way
    Call-Out: £150 standby + door-to-door overtime if called out
    Company Vehicle: Van provided with personal use option
    Fuel Card & Expenses Covered
    Annual Leave: 25 days holiday + bank holidays
    Pension Scheme: Employer contribution (typically 4-5%)
    Training & Development: Full cross-training provided (Fire ↔ Security) + manufacturer courses
    Career Progression: Opportunities into senior engineer, commissioning, or supervisory roles
    Tools, uniform, PPE provided
