How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable franchised main dealer in Portsmouth, for a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to join a well-established dealership with a strong focus on quality service and professional development.

    The Diagnostic Vehicle Technician role offers stability, a supportive working environment, and the chance to work with the latest vehicle technologies in state-of-the-art facilities.

    Benefits:

    Basic salary up to £36,000 with an on-target earning (OTE) around £48,000
    Monday to Friday working hours, 08:30 – 17:30, with no weekend commitments

    Conduct vehicle diagnostics, servicing, and repairs in accordance with brand standards
    Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and digital systems to identify faults efficiently
    Liaise directly with customers when required, providing clear advice and updates
    Support and mentor less experienced colleagues within the workshop
    Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety standards
    Attend training sessions to maintain and develop technical expertise
    Ensure compliance with all dealership processes and procedures as a Diagnostic Vehicle TechnicianRequirements of the Diagnostic Vehicle Technician:

    Relevant technical qualifications such as City & Guilds, BTEC, or NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
    Previous experience in a franchised dealership or similar environment
    Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with attention to detail
    Ability to logically approach diagnostics and problem-solving
    Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Willingness to stay up-to-date with evolving vehicle technologies and manufacturer updates
