How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Engineering Geologist

    Leeds

    Salary: £28,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience)

    A specialist geotechnical and environmental consultancy based in Leeds is looking to expand its technical team with the appointment of an Engineering Geologist. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy offering strong technical exposure, clear progression opportunities, and involvement in a wide variety of projects across the residential, commercial, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

    The successful candidate will work alongside experienced geologists and geotechnical engineers, contributing to all phases of site investigation and ground engineering projects from tender stage through to reporting and design support.

    The Role

    Supervising and undertaking ground investigations across the UK
    Logging soil and rock to current British Standards
    Coordinating drilling rigs and subcontractors on site
    Carrying out sampling and in-situ testing
    Preparing factual ground investigation reports
    Assisting with interpretative reporting and geotechnical assessments
    Managing health & safety documentation and site records
    Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal technical teams
    Supporting junior staff where appropriate

    Requirements

    Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
    Previous consultancy experience within ground investigation or geotechnical engineering
    Strong understanding of soil and rock logging
    Experience supervising site investigations
    Knowledge of geotechnical laboratory testing and interpretation
    Good report writing and communication skills
    Full UK driving licence
    CSCS card preferred
