How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, an established independent business specialising in vans and motorhomes, is seeking a skilled Van Technician to join their dedicated workshop team in Reading.

    This is an excellent Van Technician opportunity for experienced vehicle technicians looking to work within a standalone environment with a varied workload. The Van Technician role offers stability, professional development, and the chance to be part of a reputable organisation committed to quality service delivery.

    Benefits:

    Salary up to £40,000 dependent on experience
    Monday to Friday, 8am – 4.30pm
    1 in 3 Saturdays, 8.30am – 12.30pm, paid at a 1.5x overtime rate

    Supportive team and good systems in place for efficient workflowDuties of the Van Technician:

    Complete routine servicing including oil and filter changes, brake inspections, and pre-delivery inspections
    Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including air conditioning systems where applicable
    Conduct test drives following repairs to ensure safety and quality standards
    Manage own workload effectively within a standalone workshop setting
    Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance completed
    Assist in preparing vans for sale through inspections and repairs
    Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standardsRequirements:

    Fully qualified vehicle technician with proven experience working on vans or motorhomes
    Strong diagnostic skills, particularly with electrical systems
    Valid driving licence with practical experience testing and driving vans
    Experience working on brands such as Ford, Fiat, Peugeot, Citroen is advantageous but not essential
    Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of repairs, and prioritise workload
    Knowledge of air conditioning systems is a plus
