How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pastoral Lead

    Mansfield
    Full-Time | Permanent | Term-Time Only (40 hours per week)

    Salary: £15.37 – £16.78 per hour
    Annual Salary: £27,463 – £29,982 (dependent on experience)

    We are working with a forward-thinking independent school that supports young people with additional needs. We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Pastoral Lead to play a key role in shaping students’ wellbeing and personal development.

    The Role

    As a Pastoral Lead, you’ll be central to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive space where students can thrive.

    You will work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to remove barriers to learning and champion student wellbeing.

    Key responsibilities include:
    ✨ Providing daily pastoral care and emotional support
    ✨ Supporting behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding processes
    ✨ Delivering 1:1 interventions and tailored support sessions
    ✨ De-escalating situations using effective strategies
    ✨ Facilitating student voice initiatives (e.g. councils, surveys, meetings)
    ✨ Supporting PSHE and whole-school wellbeing programmes
    ✨ Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community
    ✨ Attending safeguarding and multi-agency meetings
    ✨ Monitoring and analysing pastoral data to inform student support plans
    ✨ Providing cover and line management where required

    What We’re Looking For

    We’re keen to connect with individuals who are:

    ✔️ Qualified to Level 3 or above in a relevant field
    ✔️ Educated to Level 2 in English and Maths
    ✔️ Experienced in a pastoral, wellbeing, or similar role
    ✔️ Confident supporting young people with SEND, ASC, or mental health needs
    ✔️ Knowledgeable in safeguarding within education
    ✔️ Calm, resilient, and solution-focused under pressure
    ✔️ Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
    ✔️ A team player who thrives in multi-disciplinary environments

    Experience in a school, alternative provision, or college setting is desirable - but not essential.

    This role is subject to enhanced safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
