How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Production Supervisor – Night Shift
    Location: Birmingham, B18 5AY
    Salary: £34,000 per annum, DOE + Excellent Benefits!
    Contract: Full time, Permanent
    Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) – Night Shift: 9.30pm – 5.30am

    As our Production Supervisor you will be responsible for:
    Team Management
    • To motivate and give direction to Team Leaders in producing, packing and maintaining quality-based product.
    • Supervising all aspects of the Team Leaders and providing additional resources where needed
    • To effectively manage the Production and Dispatch operations from the start to the end of the product lifecycle.
    • Undertake operational duties when required to meet deadlines and/or cover for staff absence;
    • To negotiate and plan with Team Leaders to ensure sufficient staff cover in all areas at all times;
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with your team, your manager and with people outside your team.
    Compliance & Quality
    • To effectively manage the site Hygiene functions
    • Taking responsibility for the finished products by monitoring and maintaining quality;
    • Putting policies and procedures in place and monitoring their activity for the BRC Audit.
    • Working with the Production Manager and Technical Manager on production and technical aspects of the company.
    • Dealing with any employee conduct issues at the initial stage
    • To negotiate and plan with Team Leaders to ensure sufficient staff cover in all areas at all times;
    • Undertake operational duties when required to meet deadlines and/or cover for staff absence;
    • Reviewing training needs and the effectiveness of training skills;
    • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in all areas.
    • Competent in carrying out stock take unassisted in all areas.
    • Ensure hygiene and cleaning requirements are carried out at all times, working in line with the Cleaning Schedule.
    • Ensure Health & Safety Policy and Procedures are adhered to by carrying out regular checks.
    Operational Efficiency
    • Liaise with all Team Leaders to ensure sufficient work is allocated with the correct usage of equipment. Ensure that staff have, and are able to use, correct safety equipment to carry out their duties.
    • Ensuring product quality in all area: Filling, Baking, Packing, etc
    • Maintain stock of materials and their appropriate storage as required.
    • Liaise with other departments to make sure any issues are dealt with appropriately;
    • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and recorded correctly.
    • Good standard of computer literacy (Word, Excel, Access and Sage 50);
    • Ensure hygiene and cleaning requirements are carried out at all times, working in line with the Cleaning Schedule.
    • Ensure Health & Safety Policy and Procedures are adhered to by carrying out regular checks;
    • Identify hazards and evaluate risks in the workplace, and areas that need improvement;
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with your team, your manager and with people outside your team;
    • Any other duties requested by the Company that it considers appropriate to your abilities, including duties which would not normally be associated with your job title.
    Performance Management & Quality Control
    • Checking accuracy of the product specification;
    • Checking suitability and quality of the materials and all print operations during the production process through to the final quality check and despatch.
    • To review and make recommendations for the smooth running of the department.
    • Work closely with the Senior Management Team to produce and review individual/team performances on a regular basis.
    • Carry out, monitor and verify all Quality Control Procedure sheets to ensure correct completion and manufacture of a safe product and that amount of waste (material, downtime) is accurately recorded;
    Objectives
    • To continue to strive to minimize waste in all areas by achieving maximum utilisation of our existing resources. Also, by adopting a responsible attitude to energy conservation by recycling and recognizing the aims of caring for the environment, whether it be.
    • Ideally the successful candidate will have a previous experience as Production Supervisor in Food or manufacturing environment.
    In order to be successful in this role it’s essential that you have:
    • Food Science related degree or 3 years supervisor experience.
    • HACCP Level 3 qualification
    • Mechanically minded with experience working with machinery
    • Previous experience working in a Team Management position
    • Ability to work in a busy environment and able to work under own initiative
    • Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment;
    It would be great if you had:
    • Experience of management of a bakery/pastry facility;
    • Experience and knowledge of BRC internal audit, GMP’s and KPI’s would be beneficial;
    • Experience and knowledge of Quality and continual improvement of the procedures carried out and products.
    • Must have strong leadership and managing staff experience
    • Health and safety at work
