How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant - Sheffield

    £40,000 - £50,000

    An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy in Sheffield. This role offers the chance to work within a close-knit and technically strong team, delivering a wide range of geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.

    The successful candidate will take a leading role in managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation strategy and validation, while also supporting junior team members and contributing to business development activities.

    The Role

    Managing and delivering Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Ground Investigations
    Factual and interpretative reporting
    Contaminated land risk assessments including human health, groundwater and ground gas assessments
    Designing and overseeing remediation strategies and verification works
    Client liaison and management of project programmes and budgets
    Mentoring junior engineers and consultants
    Assisting with tendering and business development activities
    Coordinating subcontractors and supervising site works

    Requirements

    Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
    Strong geoenvironmental consultancy experience within the UK market
    Experience managing contaminated land and ground investigation projects
    Good understanding of current UK contaminated land guidance and legislation
    Excellent report writing and communication skills
    Experience mentoring junior staff would be advantageous
    Full UK driving licence
