How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Applications Engineer
    Location: Bridgwater
    Salary: £36,000 – £49,000 per annum

    We’re seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join a successful and growing engineering business based in Bridgwater. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical and design experience and a passion for providing technical solutions to customer needs.

    The Role

    This will include the following activities:

    * To design technically and commercially effective metal and PTFE sealing solutions.

    * To provide technical training to Sales and Applications Engineers.

    * To provide technical assistance either from Bridgwater or on customer visits.

    * To guide Sales Engineers towards sales opportunities through product and case history training.

    * Compiling and project managing technical and commercial proposals.

    * Make presentations for technical training and product promotion.

    * Assisting Marketing Companies as required with promotional activities such as trade shows, customer visits and advertisement designs.

    * 30% design

    * 70% applications work

    About You

    * Applications Engineering experience or from a Mechanical Design background

    * 2 years experience

    * Experience in the sealing industry would be a clear advantage but experience in Oil and Gas, Food Processing, Automotive, Aerospace, Compressors or Semi-con industries would also be advantageous.

    * Manufacturing / engineering is essential.

    * Problem solving – to be able to understand key customer requirements and find the best solution for both the customer and the business

    * PC skills – proficient in MS Office, CAD (TSSB uses NX), FEA (TSSB uses Abaqus)
