How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mobile Plant Electrician

    FieldBased UK Wide Regular Staying Away

    We are a market leader in the design and manufacture of heavyduty hydraulic presses and shears for the metal recycling industry. Our machinery combines diesel engines, electric motors, highpressure hydraulic systems, and advanced electronic control systems.

    Due to continued growth, we are recruiting an experienced Mobile Plant Electrician to join our UK field service operation. This Mobile Plant Electrician role is ideal for someone comfortable with regular travel, staying away from home, outdoor working, and the physical demands of heavy plant environments.

    The Role Mobile Plant Electrician

    As a Mobile Plant Electrician, you will carry out electrical faultfinding, repair, installation, and maintenance on complex mobile and static plant equipment at customer sites across the UK.

    The Mobile Plant Electrician position involves regular overnight stays, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and operating in industrial and recycling environments. The role is handson and will involve manual handling and some heavy lifting alongside technical electrical work. 

    You will work across electrical and control systems ranging from 3phase AC power down to lowvoltage DC circuits and voltage control modules, supporting breakdowns, servicing, and upgrades.

    Key Responsibilities

    Electrical fault diagnosis, repair, and commissioning as a Mobile Plant Electrician
    Working on 3phase AC systems, DC voltages, and voltage control modules
    Faultfinding on electrical control panels, wiring looms, sensors, and actuators
    Supporting equipment powered by diesel engines and electric motors
    Assisting with electrohydraulic fault diagnosis on heavy plant machinery
    Performing repairs, upgrades, and routine maintenance to OEM standards
    Dismantling, repairing, and refitting heavy components using specialist tools
    Working safely on customer sites, often outdoors and in demanding environments
    Completing service reports and maintaining professional customer communication
    Skills & Experience Required

    Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Electrician, Plant Electrician, or Field Service Engineer
    Strong handson knowledge of:
    3phase electrical systems
    DC electrical systems and control modules
    Electrical schematic interpretation and diagnostics
    Experience working on mobile plant, heavy machinery, or industrial equipment
    Comfortable with regular staying away from home, outdoor work, and physical tasks including heavy lifting
    Knowledge of electrical control systems (PLC or CANBus experience advantageous)
    Ability to work independently in a mobile, fieldbased role
    Full UK driving licence
    Electrical or engineering qualification, or timeserved / QBE background
