How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Continual Improvement & Compliance Manager

    A well-established and growing infrastructure and construction group based in Bridgwater is seeking a Continual Improvement & Compliance Manager to support the ongoing development of its governance, compliance, environmental, and operational improvement frameworks.

    Operating across multiple business areas within civil engineering, surfacing, infrastructure, and associated services, the organisation has built a strong reputation for quality delivery, long-term client relationships, and sustainable business practices.

    This is a key role within the business, focused on strengthening compliance culture, supporting environmental responsibility, and driving continual improvement initiatives across the Group.

    The Role

    Reporting into senior leadership, the Continual Improvement & Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust compliance systems while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance, governance, and sustainability across the organisation.

    The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and sites, supporting managers and teams in embedding best practice and continuous improvement into day-to-day operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Compliance & Governance

    Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide compliance policies, procedures, and controls.

    Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry requirements.

    Maintain compliance registers, licences, permits, and statutory documentation.

    Act as a key contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, and external advisors.

    Identify compliance risks and implement effective mitigation measures.

    Coordinate internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

    Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior management.

    Environmental Management

    Oversee environmental compliance across all operational areas.

    Support and maintain environmental management systems, including ISO standards where applicable.

    Monitor environmental performance, sustainability initiatives, waste management, and resource usage.

    Lead environmental audits, inspections, and investigations where required.

    Promote environmental best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

    Continual Improvement

    Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, governance, and efficiency.

    Support the delivery of continual improvement initiatives across departments.

    Analyse operational data, audit findings, and performance metrics to drive improvement actions.

    Work collaboratively with managers to strengthen systems and streamline processes.

    Encourage a proactive culture focused on continuous improvement and problem solving.

    Training & Risk Management

    Deliver compliance and environmental awareness training where appropriate.

    Support managers in embedding compliance standards into operational activities.

    Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess business impact.

    Assist with wider ESG, sustainability, and corporate responsibility objectives.

    Support operational risk identification and mitigation activities.

    About You

    Essential

    Proven experience within compliance, governance, environmental management, or risk management roles.

    Strong understanding of UK regulatory and environmental legislation.

    Experience operating across multiple sites or within a group business structure.

    Ability to interpret legislation and apply practical business solutions.

    Strong organisational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

    Proactive and solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.

    Desirable

    Professional qualification in compliance, environmental management, health & safety, or a related discipline.

    Experience working with ISO standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

    Background within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
