How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    English Teacher role in: Birmingham

    Starting date: ASAP
    Salary: MPS1 - MPS6 per day, DOE
    Temporary Contract: Long-term cover
    Full-Time Vacancy: (8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)

    English Teacher Specification

    We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a secondary school in Birmingham with an immediate start available. This is a full-time, long-term role with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

    The successful applicant will teach English Language and English Literature across all Key Stages. In addition to delivering high-quality English lessons, the role will include providing cover for other subjects when required, ensuring continuity of learning across the school.

    Candidates must be fully committed to the long-term nature of the role, with full planning and marking responsibilities expected.

    Please note, this is a challenging school with high levels of behavioural need. A strong, experienced teacher with excellent classroom management and resilience is essential to succeed in this environment.

    Essential Requirements:

    UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent qualification
    Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
    Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
    Ability to adapt quickly and deliver effective lesson cover when needed
    Safeguarding Level 1 trained (support available if required)
    Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

    Key responsibilities:

    Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons at KS3 and KS4
    Assess, monitor, and support student progress
    Provide cover for other lessons as required across the school
    Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management
    Contribute to the wider school community and departmental development
