How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Specifications Technologist

    Yolk Recruitment are supporting a growing FMCG manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Specifications Technologist based in Avonmouth.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established FMCG business whose products are used across a wide range of well-known food applications in the UK and internationally. The company is looking for an experienced Specifications Technologist to support product compliance, customer requirements, and technical documentation across the business.

    If you have experience working with customer specifications, food compliance, technical documentation or specification systems within FMCG or food manufacturing, this could be an excellent next step in your career.

    As Specifications Technologist, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate product specifications and ensuring all documentation is compliant, up to date, and aligned with customer and legal requirements. You will work closely with Technical, Regulatory, Quality, NPD and supplier teams to ensure data integrity and resolve specification queries.

    Key responsibilities:

    Maintain and update customer specification portals and internal specification systems
    Ensure product specifications accurately reflect approved recipes, formulations and processes
    Verify nutritional, allergen and ingredient information for accuracy and compliance
    Manage specification reviews and ensure documentation remains current and audit-ready
    Complete specification risk assessments and escalate issues where required
    Work closely with suppliers to manage updates to raw materials and documentation
    Support supplier approval records, audit documentation and certification management
    Liaise with Technical, QA, Regulatory and Commercial teams to resolve queries
    Manage QA inbox queries within agreed deadlines
    Identify opportunities to improve specification processes and data accuracy
    Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and customer codes of practiceThis is what you'll need:

    Experience using specification systems, databases or customer portals
