How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Delivering high-quality fire stopping and compartmentation solutions across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments, the business has built a strong reputation for quality, compliance, and reliability throughout the UK construction industry.

Working alongside major contractors, developers, and housing providers, the company delivers specialist fire protection packages across a broad range of projects, including large-scale developments and commercial schemes. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

    The Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team within a growing passive fire protection subcontractor. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware individual capable of managing the commercial delivery of fire stopping projects from procurement through to final account.

The successful candidate will work closely with operational and project delivery teams to ensure projects are commercially successful, delivered within budget, and managed in line with contractual requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

Prepare subcontractor enquiry packages, analyse quotations, and manage procurement activities
Negotiate and appoint subcontractors in line with project budgets and programme requirements
Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations, payments, and final accounts
Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
Ensure projects are delivered within budget while maximising profitability
Work closely with operational and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
Ensure contractual compliance and effective administration of subcontract agreements
Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Support senior management with wider business and commercial objectives

    Requirements

Previous experience within a Quantity Surveyor role within construction or specialist subcontracting
Fire stopping or passive fire protection experience is essential
Previous experience working for a subcontractor is preferred
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
Proven experience managing subcontractor procurement and accounts
Ability to manage project costs, reporting, and forecasting independently
Commercially aware with strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative within a fast-paced environment
    Stable career history preferred
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management preferred
Good IT skills including Excel and commercial reporting systems

    Desirable:

    Knowledge of JCT contracts
Experience delivering projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, or education sectors
Experience working on large-scale developments or major projects

    Why Apply?

Excellent opportunity to join a growing and highly respected specialist contractor
Strong pipeline of secured fire protection projects
Exposure to large-scale construction and development schemes
    Supportive and collaborative team environment
Clear progression and long-term career development opportunities
    Competitive salary and benefits package
