How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Ecologist - Bath

    Looking for a role where your development matters just as much as the projects you work on?

    A respected environmental consultancy in Bath is looking for an Ecologist to join its welcoming and highly experienced team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to work on meaningful projects, strengthen their technical skills, and grow within a company that genuinely supports career progression.

    From protected species work to development planning and biodiversity enhancement, you'll be involved in a broad range of projects that make a real environmental impact - all within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

    Why this role stands out:

    ✔ Competitive salary and generous annual leave
    ✔ Flexible and hybrid working options
    ✔ Paid professional memberships
    ✔ Structured training, mentoring, and career progression support
    ✔ Positive team culture with a strong focus on wellbeing
    ✔ Opportunity to work on varied, high-quality ecology projects

    What you'll be doing:

    * Carrying out habitat and protected species surveys
    * Producing clear and well-presented technical reports
    * Supporting planning applications and development projects
    * Working closely with clients, planners, and project teams
    * Contributing to mitigation strategies and biodiversity enhancements

    What they're looking for:

    * A degree in Ecology or a related subject
    * Previous ecological survey experience
    * Protected species licences are beneficial but not essential
    * Strong report writing and organisational skills
    * Good understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
    * Full UK driving licence

    This is an excellent opportunity for an ecologist looking to develop their career in a consultancy known for technical quality, supportive leadership, and long-term growth opportunities.
