How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a leading role within our Design Team, taking technical ownership of mechanical engineering solutions across a wide range of water and wastewater treatment projects.

In this role, you will guide the full design process from concept through to completion, ensuring every mechanical system meets regulatory, safety, and client requirements while maintaining high standards of efficiency and sustainability. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated designs, oversee technical reviews and risk assessments, and provide expert support during procurement, installation, and commissioning.

Acting as a mentor to junior engineers, you will help shape the future capability of the team while championing innovation, quality, and best practice across the business.

Please note that this role requires you to be in the office or on site at least 3 times a week.

    About Enisca Browne

Enisca Browne is part of Browne Group, a leading contractor in the UK water and civil engineering sectors. Together we deliver essential infrastructure that supports clean water, safe drainage and reliable services for communities.

Enisca Browne focuses on the systems that keep water and wastewater treatment sites running at their best. We work on power, process equipment, control systems and the civil structures that support them.

As the Group's mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation specialist, we manage everything from control panel manufacturing to full system integration and commissioning. Our teams bring deep technical knowledge and a collaborative approach to solving real-world challenges.

We offer opportunities for people with a range of skills and backgrounds, from hands-on engineering to project support and technical delivery. Everyone plays a part in helping us deliver safe, smart and sustainable solutions.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for a technically strong, forward-thinking engineer who can lead complex mechanical design packages, support others, and confidently represent the discipline to clients and stakeholders.

    Experience

7–10 years' mechanical design engineering experience, ideally in the water or wastewater sector.

Proven background delivering mechanical designs for treatment projects with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong understanding of mechanical equipment used in water treatment (pumps, piping systems, valves, blowers, filtration systems).

Solid knowledge of relevant mechanical design standards, HSE requirements, and environmental regulations.

Experience supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation of mechanical systems.

    Knowledge & Skills

Strong leadership and mentoring ability, with experience guiding engineering teams.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering efficient, cost-effective solutions.

Highly organised, able to prioritise multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, confident explaining technical concepts clearly.

Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across disciplines.

    Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working toward it.

Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.

If you're ready to take a leading role in designing mechanical systems that support sustainable, reliable water treatment — and you're passionate about mentoring others and driving excellence — we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help engineer solutions that make a real impact on communities and the environment.

The Company has experienced unprecedented growth over the past few years. We have a vast number of employees, and provide support to clients from all over the country
