Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils on a temp to perm basis within a specialist educational setting in the Preston area. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, and who are looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Encouraging emotional regulation and social development
Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
Have strong behaviour management skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Be looking for a long-term role with the potential for a permanent position
