How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    This role is to assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in project delivery and site engineering/setting out, ensuring safe delivery of the project to time, cost and quality requirements. The main project is a highways project which requires bridge examinations and general engineering duties around the M40 junction 10 -12.

    This role requires experience of using robotic total station, generally line and level control.

    The ability and willingness to travel around the Country is required.

    Key tasks:

    1. Technical Assurance of Construction Works

    Verify that works are constructed in accordance with:

    Approved designs

    Risk assessments (RAMS)

    Inspection / test regimes

    Provide daily engineering assurance on site

    Identify deviations from design or method and escalate

    2. Inspection, Verification and Records

    Undertake or support:

    Setting out and dimensional checks

    Inspection of safety-critical works

    Verification of construction activities (e.g. pours, groundworks, installation)

    Maintain accurate engineering records and evidence

    Support “hold, witness and inspection points” within the Engineering Management Plan

    3. Temporary Works Implementation (TWS-type functions where delegated)

    Where acting as or supporting a TWS:

    Supervise:

    Installation of temporary works

    Inspection prior to loading / use

    Removal and dismantling

    Ensure works are only implemented in accordance with approved designs and permits

    No authority for design approval or change

    4. Monitoring Compliance and Escalation

    Identify:

    Non-conformances

    Deviations from design or RAMS

    Unsafe or uncontrolled works

    Escalate issues to:

    TWC / Construction Manager / DI as appropriate

    Prevent progression of non-compliant work activities

    5. Engineering Input into Planning and Sequencing

    Support:

    Constructability reviews

    Sequencing of works

    Interface coordination (temporary/permanent works)

    Assist in defining:

    Safe build methodology

    Logical construction stages

    6. Evidence, Records and “Golden Thread”

    Produce and maintain:

    Inspection records

    Verification data

    As-built information

    Contribute to the project evidence base required under:

    Building Safety Act 2022

    Engineering Management Plan requirements

    7. Support to Dutyholder Framework (CDM 2015)

    Act as a key enabler of dutyholder compliance by:

    Monitoring construction works

    Providing real-time assurance

    Supporting risk control implementation

    Ensure work is:

    Planned

    Managed

    Monitored safely on site

    Qualifications & Experience required

    * Civil Engineering degree

    * Bridge & structures examinations experience

    * Managing and organising ITP's

    * Compiling and managing H&S files

    * Highways experience (not essential)

    * SMSTS/SSSTS

    * CSCS
