How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Maintenance Team Leader / Maintenance Manager
    Location: South Yorkshire
    Hours: Monday to Friday Days
    Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
    Sector: Recycling & Sustainability

We are recruiting for a hands-on Maintenance Team Leader / Maintenance Manager to join a high-volume recycling operation in South Yorkshire. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this is a key role responsible for leading and developing the site maintenance function.

The role is approximately 40% hands-on and 60% office-based, combining leadership responsibilities with practical engineering involvement.

    Key responsibilities include:
    * Planning and coordinating work for 2 Maintenance Technicians (1 Mechanical, 1 Electrical)
    * Supporting both reactive and planned maintenance activities
    * Managing CMMS systems, engineering stores and spare parts
    * Supervising and coordinating 3rd party contractors
    * Supporting continuous improvement projects across site
    * Promoting and maintaining high health & safety standards

Although the role is days-based, the site operates 24/7, so occasional call-outs may be required.

Typical equipment includes motors, gearboxes, conveyors, rollers and associated processing machinery.

We are open to candidates from either a Mechanical or Electrical background. Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial, however we would also welcome applications from experienced Maintenance Engineers looking to step into their first management position.

    About you:
    * Apprentice trained or qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering
    * Proven experience working within industrial maintenance
    * Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment
    * Familiar with CMMS systems and generally computer literate
    * Fabrication skills or understanding would be advantageous
    * Experience managing contractors on site

Experience within recycling, waste, heavy industry or similar sectors would be advantageous, but is not essential.
