How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Chef

    Trust: Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
    Location: Pinderfields General Hospital
    Pay Rate: £13.60 – £22.99
    Hours / Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7
    Shift patterns: Rotating shifts - 06:00–14:00 and 11:00–19:00

    About the Role

    Are you a qualified Chef who enjoys working as part of a team? If so, NHS Professionals would love to hear from you.

    We have a temporary opportunity available for a Chef at Pinderfields General Hospital. You will play a vital role in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors. All food must meet medical, dietary, and cultural requirements, including gluten-free, low-fat, soft diets, halal, and vegetarian options.

    This is a hands-on role in a busy production kitchen, not a microwave reheating environment, requiring strong all-round catering knowledge.

    Key Duties

    * Planning meals and menus

    * Preparing and cooking food to a high standard

    * Using kitchen equipment safely (e.g. mixers)

    * Ensuring correct food storage and stock rotation

    * Minimising food waste

    * Supervising kitchen assistants

    Skills & Requirements

    * Catering qualification essential

    * Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate required

    * Qualified Chef (City & Guilds 706/1 and/or 706/2 or equivalent)

    * Allergen awareness

    * Previous experience in a large-scale catering or production kitchen

    * Ability to work independently and use initiative

    * Excellent time management skills

    * Full driving licence and access to own transport (due to limited public transport)
