How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Join a leading national law firm committed to access to justice.

With offices nationwide and a strong commitment to access to justice, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding legal support to individuals and communities across the country.

As our Civil department continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Civil Costs Draftsperson to join our specialist team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled costs professional with expertise in legal aid Civil billing to play a key role within a highly respected and collaborative national practice.

    The Role

You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of Civil legal aid billing matters, ensuring the accurate preparation, drafting and submission of high-cost case plans, bills of costs, CCMS claims, and associated legal aid work.

Working remotely or from one of our national offices, you will support our Civil teams in maintaining robust compliance standards, maximising cost recovery, and ensuring the efficient management of billing processes across complex Civil matters.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Preparing, drafting and managing bills of costs in high-cost Civil matters, including legal aid, inter partes and court-assessed bills.

    * Producing and submitting claims through CCMS, ensuring compliance with current Legal Aid Agency guidance and requirements.

    * Preparing high-cost case plans, amendments and related documentation.

    * Supporting fee earners with costs queries, billing advice and case planning guidance.

    * Managing a high volume of work with exceptional accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.

    * Monitoring developments in legal aid billing regulations, costs procedures and best practice within Civil law.

    * Contributing to the continuous improvement of costs processes and financial performance within the department.

    About You

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who brings:

    * Demonstrable experience in Civil legal aid costs drafting, including high-cost Civil matters.

    * Strong working knowledge of CCMS and proven experience preparing and submitting claims.

    * Sound understanding of public and private Civil law proceedings and associated legal aid frameworks.

    * Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    * A meticulous approach to accuracy, compliance and financial management.

    * The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

    * A collaborative and proactive approach, with strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

    Why Join GT Stewart?

At GT Stewart, we recognise that our people are at the heart of our success. We are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive and flexible working environment where individuals can thrive and develop their careers.

    We offer:

    * Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

    * Flexible working options, including remote, hybrid and office-based arrangements.

    * A supportive, collegiate and values-driven working culture.

    * Opportunities for professional growth and development within a nationally recognised firm.

    * The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a firm dedicated to delivering access to justice
