How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Science Technician
    Secondary School in Clapham South
    Full-Time | Term-Time Only

    Nurture Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Clapham South to recruit a proactive and organised Science Technician.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Science Technician to support a busy Science department and play a key role in the delivery of engaging practical lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5.

    About the Role

    As a Science Technician, you will support teachers and students by preparing materials, equipment, and resources for practical science lessons. The successful Science Technician will help ensure the smooth and safe running of laboratories and science classrooms.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare and set up equipment and materials for Science lessons

    * Support practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

    * Maintain laboratories, prep rooms, and Science equipment

    * Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times

    * Manage stock levels and order resources where required

    * Assist teaching staff with demonstrations and practical activities

    * Dispose of chemicals and materials safely in line with regulations

    * Support students during practical lessons where necessary

    What We’re Looking For

    * Experience working as a Science Technician or in a laboratory/science environment

    * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

    * Good understanding of laboratory Health & Safety procedures

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    * Enthusiastic and proactive approach

    Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential for this Science Technician role.
