How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Geotechnical Engineering
    Crawley £70,000 - £90,000
    An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Technical Director to join a leading engineering consultancy in Crawley. This role is ideal for an experienced senior geotechnical professional looking to take on a strategic leadership position within a well-established and growing business.

    The successful candidate will lead the technical delivery of major geotechnical projects across infrastructure, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors while supporting business growth, mentoring senior staff, and driving technical excellence across the consultancy.

    This position offers a strong platform for an ambitious individual looking to influence business direction, manage key client relationships, and lead high-profile projects across the South East and wider UK.

    The Role

    Leading the technical delivery of complex geotechnical engineering projects
    Providing expert advice on foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground investigation strategies
    Managing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports and design packages
    Developing and maintaining key client relationships
    Supporting business development, tenders, and framework opportunities
    Mentoring and developing geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists
    Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across large development and infrastructure schemes
    Supporting the strategic growth of the geotechnical division

    Requirements

    Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
    Chartered status (CEng or CGeol) essential
    Extensive experience within geotechnical consultancy
    Strong technical background in geotechnical design and ground engineering
    Proven leadership and project management experience
    Strong client-facing and business development skills
