How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are a high-achieving, oversubscribed Church of England secondary school with a strong reputation for academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care, and a deeply rooted values-led ethos. Our Christian foundation underpins everything we do, fostering a respectful, inclusive and aspirational learning environment.

English is a key strength within the school, with a curriculum designed to develop confident readers, articulate writers, and thoughtful, critical thinkers who can engage with a wide range of literature and ideas.

    The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to join our successful English department from September 2026.

The successful candidate will deliver inspiring and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a vital role in developing students’ literacy, analytical skills, and appreciation of literature and language.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established department with a strong tradition of academic success and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.

    Key Responsibilities

Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that develop reading, writing and analytical skills
Foster a love of literature and language in all students
Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
Provide targeted intervention and feedback to support student achievement
Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development within the department
Support whole-school literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Ability to teach GCSE English confidently (A-Level experience desirable)
A passion for literature, language, and student engagement
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to the ethos and values of a Church of England school
A reflective, collaborative and professional approach to teaching

    What We Offer

A supportive and high-performing English department
    Excellent professional development opportunities
A well-structured curriculum with strong resources and shared planning
    A values-driven school community
Motivated students with a strong commitment to learning
Opportunities for career development and progression
