How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging and practical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a focus on design, manufacture, and material understanding. You will inspire students to develop creativity, precision, and technical skills through workshop-based learning and design projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking DT department with strong uptake at GCSE and a commitment to excellence in practical education.

Deliver engaging, safe and well-structured practical and theoretical lessons
Develop students’ skills in designing, modelling, and manufacturing products
Ensure high standards of health and safety in workshops and practical environments
Support students in using tools, machinery, and CAD/CAM software effectively
Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and assessment
Monitor, assess, and support student progress to achieve strong outcomes
Contribute to enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and showcases

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology, specifically Resistant Materials
Experience teaching practical workshop-based DT at KS3 and KS4
Ability to teach design processes, material properties, and manufacturing techniques
Confidence using CAD/CAM software and workshop equipment (desirable)
Strong classroom management and commitment to safe practice
A passion for hands-on, creative, and industry-relevant learning

    What We Offer

A well-resourced and modern DT workshop environment
A supportive and collaborative Design & Technology department
    Opportunities for professional development
Engaged students who enjoy practical, hands-on learning
Clear pathways for career progression and subject leadership opportunities
