How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a key middle leadership role for an outstanding classroom practitioner who is ready to take responsibility for driving excellence in Geography across the academy. You will lead on curriculum development, teaching and learning, and student outcomes within the subject, while continuing to teach high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5.

You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across Humanities to ensure Geography remains a high-performing, engaging and ambitious subject area.

    Key Responsibilities

Raise student attainment and progress in Geography across all key stages
Support and develop high-quality teaching and learning within the department
Analyse performance data and implement effective intervention strategies
Oversee curriculum planning, sequencing, and resource development
Mentor and support colleagues within the Humanities team
Promote fieldwork, enrichment opportunities, and wider curriculum experiences
Ensure consistently high standards of assessment, feedback, and exam preparation

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
    Strong subject knowledge in Geography
Proven track record of excellent classroom teaching and student outcomes
Experience teaching GCSE Geography (A-Level experience highly desirable)
Leadership experience or readiness to take on a middle leadership role
Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff and students
Strong analytical skills and understanding of data-driven improvement
A commitment to inclusive, ambitious education for all learners

    What We Offer

A leadership role within a supportive and forward-thinking Humanities faculty
    Opportunities for career progression
High-quality professional development and leadership training
Well-resourced Geography curriculum and strong departmental support
Motivated students with a growing interest in Geography and global issues
The opportunity to shape and influence curriculum and teaching across the academy
