How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the School

We are a vibrant and inclusive secondary academy committed to delivering outstanding education and ensuring that every student, regardless of background or need, can thrive. As part of the wider Harris Federation, the academy benefits from a strong network of support, collaboration, and high expectations.

Inclusion is at the heart of our ethos. We are committed to providing exceptional support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they are fully integrated into school life and achieve their full potential.

    The Role

We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate Deputy SENDCo to join our Inclusion Team from September 2026.

Working closely with the SENDCo, senior leadership, and teaching staff, you will play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of SEND provision across the academy. You will help ensure that students with additional needs receive high-quality support, interventions, and access arrangements that enable them to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring or experienced SEND professional to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and supportive environment.

    Key Responsibilities

Support the SENDCo in leading and managing SEND provision across the academy
Assist in identifying, assessing, and monitoring students with additional needs
Help develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and support plans
Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure high-quality adaptive teaching strategies
Coordinate targeted interventions and track student progress effectively
Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and specialist services
Support exam access arrangements and statutory assessment processes
Promote inclusion and positive outcomes for all students

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable but not essential depending on experience)
Experience working with students with SEND in a secondary setting
Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education strategies
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and lead initiatives where required
A commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
SENCO qualification (or willingness to work towards it) is highly desirable

    What We Offer

A supportive and ambitious inclusion team
Opportunities for professional development, including SENDCo training pathways
Access to high-quality resources and specialist support services
Strong leadership support within a forward-thinking academy
The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people
    Salary description

    £28456.00 - £37567.00 per year
