How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a leading and award-winning organisation specialising in heavy goods vehicle maintenance and repair, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their reputable team in Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals to develop their careers within a forward-thinking company committed to staff growth and job satisfaction.

    Competitive hourly rate of up to £25, dependent on experience
    Monday to Friday shifts from 1.30pm to 10pm
    Sundays on a rota, 6am to 2pm
    Overtime paid at time and a half, including Saturdays

    Uniform provided and ongoing training resourcesDuties of a HGV Technician:

    Conducting major and minor repairs on heavy goods vehicles and trailers in accordance with manufacturer standards
    Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance such as tyre replacements and oil changes
    Diagnosing faults and assisting with repair planning within workshop teams
    Maintaining accurate and detailed vehicle repair records
    Responding to emergency roadside repairs when necessary
    Ensuring workshop cleanliness and inventory control
    Completing all documentation, warranty claims, and escalation proceduresRequirements of a HGV Technician:

    Level 3 (NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI) qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance
    Proven experience as an HGV Technician, with an ability to inspect and identify faulty components
    Full UK driving licence for relevant vehicle classes
    Knowledge of DVSA standards for vehicle testing and safety
    IRTEC accreditation is desirable but not essential
    Strong diagnostic skills and proactive vehicle maintenance approach
