How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

    Apollogrid is seeking an experienced and commercially driven self-employed sales professional to identify and secure new business opportunities within the commercial and non-residential sector.

    This opportunity is suited to an independent contractor who is comfortable generating and managing their own pipeline, developing commercial relationships, and operating with a high level of autonomy.

    You will promote commercial solar PV, battery storage, and energy solutions to organisations including SMEs, housing associations, local authorities, commercial property owners, and developers.

    Typical Activities

    * Identifying and approaching prospective commercial clients within your chosen territory

    * Generating leads through networking, referrals, outbound prospecting, and other self-generated business development activity

    * Building relationships with business owners, directors, facilities managers, and asset managers

    * Arranging and attending client meetings and site visits

    * Presenting suitable commercial energy solutions

    * Preparing and progressing proposals through to completion

    * Managing your own sales activity, client relationships, and business development pipeline independently

    Candidate Requirements

    * Proven B2B or commercial sales experience with a track record of generating new business

    * Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    * Self-motivated with good organisational ability

    * Ability to manage your own time, workload, and business development activity independently

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required

    Desirable Experience

    Experience within one or more of the following sectors would be advantageous:

    * Solar PV or renewable energy

    * Energy efficiency solutions

    * Commercial property

    * Construction

    * Housing associations

    * Public sector or local authority sales

    Compensation

    * £30,000 annual retainer

    * Uncapped commission with significant earning potential

    * Full commission structure and commercial terms discussed during the application process

    Important Engagement Information

    This opportunity is offered on a self-employed independent contractor basis and does not constitute employment.

    Successful applicants will:

    * Be responsible for their own Income Tax and National Insurance obligations

    * Be responsible for VAT registration and accounting obligations where applicable

    * Be responsible for maintaining any appropriate insurances

    * Cover their own business-related expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing

    * Not be entitled to employee benefits including holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions, or other statutory employment rights

    Contractors will retain control over how they carry out their sales and business development activities, subject to agreed commercial standards and applicable legal requirements.

    This opportunity is non-exclusive and contractors may undertake work for other businesses where no conflict of interest exists.
