How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The role offers exposure to flood risk, drainage and infrastructure design from planning stage through to detailed and construction delivery within a collaborative and technically strong consultancy environment.

Open from Engineer through to Senior level, this position offers clear progression opportunities alongside strong Chartership and professional development support.

    The Role

You'll support the design and delivery of drainage and flood risk solutions across a broad range of development projects, working closely with civil, structural, geotechnical and geo-environmental teams within the wider business.
Projects typically include residential developments, commercial schemes and wider infrastructure-led developments requiring drainage strategies, SuDS design, Flood Risk Assessments, site levels and external works design.

The role will involve contributing to projects through planning, detailed and construction design stages, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors and Local Authorities to deliver practical and compliant engineering solutions.
You'll also gain exposure to highways and infrastructure coordination where required, while continuing to develop technically within a consultancy that places strong emphasis on CPD, mentoring and long-term career progression.

    What We're Looking For

Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with experience in flood risk, drainage or development infrastructure design.
Good understanding of drainage strategies, SuDS and flood risk principles associated with residential and commercial development projects.
Experience using AutoCAD and drainage design software such as Causeway Flow, FLOW or MicroDrainage/Windes, with Civil 3D, PDS or Site3D experience beneficial.
Understanding of development infrastructure design from planning stage through to construction delivery.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Chartered status or progression toward Chartership with ICE would be advantageous but is not essential.

    Why Apply?

This is a strong opportunity to join a well-established consultancy known for its collaborative culture, technical quality and excellent staff retention. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of development and infrastructure projects while benefiting from structured CPD, Chartership support and genuine progression opportunities.

The business offers flexible working hours, early finish Fridays, paid study support, regular social events and a supportive multidisciplinary environment where engineers are encouraged to develop technically and professionally.
Additional benefits include pension contributions, life insurance, enhanced sickness pay, health cash plan and Cycle to Work scheme.
