How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Croydon | Hybrid Working Available

An established, employee-owned Building Services Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Croydon team. With decades of experience delivering innovative engineering solutions across the built environment, the business has developed a strong reputation for technical excellence, sustainable design, and long-standing client partnerships across London and the South East.

The company delivers full MEP building services design alongside specialist low carbon and energy advisory services across a broad range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, leisure, residential, and industrial developments.

As an employee-owned business, staff benefit directly from the company's success through an annual tax-free bonus scheme, alongside a genuinely collaborative environment where people are invested in long-term career development. The leadership team also has a strong technical background - the Managing Director started their career as an engineer within the business, reflecting the company's commitment to nurturing and developing talent from within.

Due to continued project wins and growth, they are now looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in project delivery, client management, and mentoring junior engineers within the Croydon office.

    Key responsibilities include:

Leading mechanical building services design across multiple sectors
Producing and reviewing detailed HVAC and public health designs
Managing projects through all RIBA stages
Attending client and design team meetings
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
Coordinating with electrical, sustainability, and external consultant teams
Carrying out site inspections and technical reviews
Supporting low carbon and energy-efficient design strategiesRequirements

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
Proven experience within a Building Services consultancy environment
Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems design
Experience leading projects and managing client relationships
Familiarity with UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance
Proficiency with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, or Hevacomp
Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageousWhat's On Offer

Employee-owned business with annual tax-free bonus potential
Opportunity to work on varied and technically challenging projects
Clear career progression within a growing consultancy
    Collaborative and supportive working environment
Exposure to sustainable and low carbon design projects
    Hybrid working flexibility
Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageThis is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to join a forward-thinking consultancy where technical expertise is valued, career progression is encouraged, and employees are genuinely invested in the success of the business.
