How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Naval Architect
    Southampton
    £45,000 – £55,000
    Permanent | Full Time

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Naval Architect to join a growing based in Southampton.

    My client specialises in the design of commercial and specialist vessels, working closely with boatbuilders and operators across the UK and internationally. The business is known for delivering high‑quality, innovative vessel designs across a wide range of hull forms and vessel types, from early concept through to delivery and post‑build stability documentation.

    The Role

    You will work across multiple projects, taking responsibility for the technical delivery of naval architecture work packages. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of vessel types, clients, and classification societies, while working as part of a collaborative and technically strong team of naval architects and engineers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver naval architecture design activities from concept through to build and sea trials
    Perform stability analysis, weight estimates, and performance predictions
    Develop vessel arrangements, technical specifications, and structural designs
    Support compliance activity including class, flag, and FMEA requirements
    Work closely with production teams, clients, and classification societies
    Support project management activities and contribute to successful project delivery
    Attend vessel surveys, trials, and onboard testing when requiredExperience Required

    Minimum 3 - 5 years of professional naval architecture experience
    Strong understanding of stability, structures, scantlings, and compliance engineering
    Experience working on commercial or specialist craft
    Proficient in AutoCAD, with experience in Rhino or SolidWorks
    Confident user of Maxsurf and Microsoft Office
    Comfortable engaging with clients and supporting design development discussionsAdditional

    You will be expected to represent the business professionally when engaging with clients and partners, and to contribute ideas that support innovation and the development of new vessel designs and intellectual property.
